I live near the end of the street closures for the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval, so in the absence of other plans or party invitations, it's a good default event for Halloween night.
But unlike the many plainclothes spectators who get their picture taken with costumed revelers, I dress up. I am both a spectator and a participant, a people-watcher and a partier, a photographer who's more than willing to pose for photographs.
Here are my best photos from the evening, insisting mostly on taking candids and action shots but nabbing some characters in mid-pose:
