Photo Essay: West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval 2014

Thank God I live at the end of the street closure route for the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval. This year my proximity to it meant I had no reason not to drag myself out of my apartment and actually do something.

Lucky for me, it's probably the best thing to do in LA on Halloween. I've been to a bunch of the high ticket masquerades and costume parties, and I always have a better time walking Santa Monica Boulevard (for free).

This year, Halloween night was the only night I had an excuse to get into costume (in contrast to prior years when I've had up to three different get-ups), so I poured myself into my wet look catsuit, strapped on my gold cape, put on my ears and whiskers and took this Egyptian cat goddess out for a stroll.

I met my match with this cat lady...

...and a certain Kitty...

...as well as a few puppies.

As always, the Carnaval was dotted with plenty of references to current events and pop culture, like Ebola...

...Tinder...

...and, appropriately on a rainy night, the Cloud.

But it wouldn't be Halloween in West Hollywood without a good dose of the scary...

...or the elaborate.

I myself always go for the glamorous.

And, in West Hollywood, showing a little skin is de rigeur, even in the rain.
